About This Portal

An overview of why this site exists, who maintains it.

Our Mission

The CLTC Disorders portal is currently the only dedicated informational resource for this rare disease. Created and funded entirely by families of children diagnosed with CLTC-Related Intellectual Disability, our mission is to:

  • Raise awareness of CLTC-ID among medical professionals and the public
  • Build and support the global CLTC patient community by providing accurate, accessible information
  • Build data repositories and collect patient data that conforms to industry standards
  • Advocate for research funding and new treatments

Our Story

This website was created by Wayne Chen, with help from friends and supporters. Wayne's son Atticus was diagnosed with CLTC-ID in 2023 at age three. Though his case is considered mild, without treatment breakthroughs, independent living remains unlikely.

Wayne is a web and database developer who studied molecular biology and worked as a bioinformatics developer in the San Francisco Bay Area and Portland, Oregon. He is now channeling these skills to support other affected families and to help accelerate research into CLTC-ID and related childhood neurodevelopmental disorders. He is based in Taipei, Taiwan.

Want to contribute? Whether you are a family member with insights, a researcher with data, a clinician with expertise, or a developer — your input matters. Reach Wayne through the Facebook group or by email at info@cltcdisorders.org.
